upper surface is dark green and glandular-hairy along the veins
underside is bluish-green and felted (tomentose), at least along the veins
leaf stalk is 6 – 8 mm long

Flowers

plant is monosexual, flowers are bisexual, pinkish white to violet
morphologically it is similar to common honeysuckle
it flowers in IV – V

Fruits – seeds

the fruit is a black, bloom-covered berry about 8 mm in size, containing 2 – 4 ovoid seeds
it ripens in July–September

Extension

it is native to Western, Central, and Southern Europe
in Slovakia, it is found at elevations between 450 and 1,600 m a.s.l.
it grows primarily in the understory of sub-montane and montane forests, with its optimum in mountain regions
