leaf buds are elongated-ovoid and naked, with distinct venation, measuring 20 – 35 x 5 – 7 mm, and covered with coarse, rusty hairs
flower buds are terminal and broadly cup-shaped, measuring 15 – 20 x 10 – 12 mm, also covered with coarse, rusty hairs

Shoots

shoots are round, relatively thick, light brown, and roughly hairy

Leaves (assimilation organs)

leaves are simple, ovate-lanceolate, entire-margined, and persistent (evergreen)
upper surface is dark green and glossy with deeply impressed venation (leaves appear "wrinkled")
underside is grey and roughly tomentose (felt-like) with prominently raised venation
stalk (petiole) is 13 – 30 mm long and roughly hairy
