it is a slightly branched shrub growing to a height of 2 to 3 m
branches are straight, bark and rind are grey, grey-brown on young branches

Flowers

the fruit is a bright red, spherical capsule, 7 - 8 mm in size, whitish tomentose, containing 3 - 5 seeds

Extension

in Slovakia, the species is mainly found in the foothills to the mountains in the area of the Western Carpathian flora, such as the Strážovské hills, Muránska plain, Slovenský paradise, Fatra, the LowTatras and the Belianske Tatras

Ecology

it is a light-loving, drought-resistant woody plant that occupies sunny shrubby slopes and rocks, mainly on limestones

Significance

in places of occurrence, it is soil-protective
in gardening, as a rockery - aesthetic
