Habitus

it is a shrub to small tree growing to a height of 3 - 6 m
bark is yellowish-green, later grey-green
the skin peels off in longitudinal thin strips
the bork is dark grey-green covered with transverse linear raised lenticels

Extension

it is originally widespread in Western Siberia to Mongolia, where it grows mainly along watercourses, in potholes, on rocky slopes up to the steppe zone
in Slovakia it occurs only as a cultivated species, which occasionally burns

it is a light-loving woody plant, resistant to drought and frost, undemanding to nutrients

Significance

it is an ornamental park tree mainly due to its abundant flowering, but also its fruits
